About the Journal
Vision
“Striving for Excellence in Endocrine Medicine: Envisioning a Transformed Future.”
Our vision is to establish a leading endocrine medical journal that empowers healthcare professionals, researchers, and patients through a vibrant platform fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence in endocrine medicine.
We aim to promote evidence-based practice while embracing a holistic approach to endocrine health.
In addition, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of endocrine researchers and clinicians through mentorship, education, and professional development opportunities.
Mission Statement
The Journal of Pakistan Endocrine Society (JPES) is dedicated to advancing the understanding, prevention, and management of endocrine and metabolic disorders by publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed research and fostering collaboration among clinicians, scientists, and educators.
This is an open access journal and users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles.
JPES is committed to:
- Promoting scientific integrity and disseminating accurate, evidence-based knowledge
- Encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration in endocrinology and metabolism
- Facilitating open access to research for equitable knowledge sharing
- Supporting capacity building and professional growth among early-career researchers and clinicians
- Upholding ethical publishing and editorial standards consistent with international best practices
Rationale
The Journal of Pakistan Endocrine Society was established to address the growing need for a regional platform dedicated to high-quality endocrine research. Local data and clinical perspectives are underrepresented in international literature, despite rising prevalence of endocrine and metabolic disorders in Pakistan and South Asia.

Plagiarism Check Policy
The Journal of Pakistan Endocrine Society (JPES) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using reliable plagiarism detection software prior to peer review. Submissions found to contain significant similarity with previously published work, including self-plagiarism, unattributed quotations, or improper citation, may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected outright depending on the extent of overlap. Authors are expected to ensure that their work is original, properly cited, and compliant with international publication ethics guidelines. The journal follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in handling suspected cases of plagiarism and academic misconduct.
1. AI Tools Use Policy in Manuscripts
The Journal of Pakistan Endocrine Society recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) tools may assist authors in improving language, formatting, and literature search. However, AI tools such as large language models must not be listed as authors, as they cannot take responsibility for the integrity or accuracy of the work. Authors must ensure that all content generated with AI assistance is carefully reviewed, verified, and edited by the authors themselves. If AI tools are used in manuscript preparation, authors should disclose their use in the acknowledgements or methods section where appropriate. The authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and ethical integrity of the manuscript.
2. Authorship Policy (Authorship Criteria)
Authorship in the Journal of Pakistan Endocrine Society must comply with the authorship criteria recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors. To qualify for authorship, individuals must have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript; approved the final version to be published; and agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work. Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet these criteria should be acknowledged appropriately. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all listed authors meet authorship requirements and that no eligible contributors are omitted.
3. Conflict of Interest Policy
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
The Journal of Pakistan Endocrine Society requires all authors to disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation of their work. These may include funding sources, consultancy roles, honoraria, stock ownership, or personal relationships that could potentially bias the research. All disclosures must be clearly stated at the end of the manuscript under the “Conflict of Interest” section. If no conflicts exist, authors should explicitly state: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.” Transparency in disclosure helps maintain the credibility and integrity of scientific publication.
4. Data Availability Policy
Data Availability and Transparency
The Journal of Pakistan Endocrine Society encourages authors to promote transparency and reproducibility by making research data available whenever possible. Authors should include a Data Availability Statement describing whether the data supporting the findings of the study are publicly available, available upon reasonable request, or restricted due to ethical or privacy considerations. When datasets are deposited in public repositories, authors should provide the relevant links or accession numbers. Ensuring access to underlying data supports scientific verification and enhances research credibility.
5. Ethical Approval Policy
Ethical Approval and Informed Consent
Research involving human participants must comply with ethical standards outlined in the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki and must receive approval from an appropriate institutional ethics review committee. Authors must clearly state the name of the ethics committee and approval number in the methods section. For studies involving human participants, informed consent must be obtained from all participants or their legal guardians. For case reports, written informed consent for publication should be obtained when identifiable information is included.
